I have always appreciated blogs and cookbooks for coming up with great recipe inspiration, and am currently working on developing my own mini book that I will be released upon completion of my nutrition certification. (stay tuned ) In the meantime, with the holidays coming up before we know it, I have been trying out some different recipes lately especially since adopting a plant based diet 5 months ago now.
In the meantime, with the holidays coming up before we know it, I have been trying out some different recipes lately especially since adopting a plant based diet 5 months ago now. I have been compiling a list of my bookmarks of my favourite food blogs and recipes, I also have found that so many of these blogs have cookbooks! I wanted to put together a list of my favourite cookbooks that doubles as the first of my gift series
I wanted to put together a list of my favourite cookbooks that doubles as the first of my gift series that would make the perfect hostess gift, Christmas gift, birthday gift or something special to add to your own collection to bring into your weekly rotation. Here are my must-have cookbooks for at home chefs (you will find some plant-based, some vegetarian, some vegan, some paleo, some ketogenic, I have included many different diets in this list so I hope there is something for everyone!)
No Excuses Detox – Megan Gilmore (Detoxinista) – This book includes family favourite dishes made with healthier ingredients and all recipes are vegetarian and gluten-free! She gives excellent tips on how to make the meals ahead, freeze and store in the crock pot to make weeknights super easy. Released in 2017.
Half Hour Hero – Roz Purcell (Natural Born Feeder) – I adore Roz Purcell. Her recipes are so delicious and she was one of the first clean eating blogs I found over in Ireland. She focuses on healthy whole foods and recipes that will come together quickly. Released in 2017.
Everyday Cooking – The Minimalist Baker (Minimalist Baker) – Dana is my new favorite person in the world. All of her recipes are so delicious that I have tried and they all use 10 ingredients or less, keeping them very simple and usually, I already have what I need in the house to whip up something I find from her recipes. I love how simple she makes things and how good they taste. The idea behind this book is simple: 101 recipes, all vegan that require 10 ingredients or less, 1 bowl or 1 pot, and take less than 30 minutes to prepare!
Oh She Glows Every Day – Angela Liddon (Oh She Glows) – I have fallen in love with the Oh She Glows blog and app. Her Instagram is also full of mouthwatering delicious things that make me want to jump in the kitchen! Her book is full of plant-based allergy-friendly recipes with stunning full-page photos to leave you drooling over what you might cook next.
5 Ingredients – Jamie Oliver Everything I have ever tried at a Jamie Oliver restaurant has been so incredibly amazing. The things he comes up with are so delicious and fresh. Every time we are in London, a stop at one of his restaurants is always a must. This book uses just 5 ingredients to make fresh and delicious minimalist recipes. If you can’t tell yet, I am a huge fan of minimal ingredients.
Good + Simple – Hemsley + Hemsley This book is full of affordable easy to follow healthy recipes that will help you on your path to a healthy lifestyle and intuitive eating.
Weekday Weekend Cookbook – A Beautiful Mess The idea behind this book from the lovely A Beautiful Mess team is all about balance. Healthy easy to prepare meals during the week following a healthy balanced lifestyle, and then enjoying some treats you have been wanting during the week. They have created a book that is all about finding the right balance for you, the book is mostly plant-based and has so many options to choose from.
The Keto Diet – Leanne Vogel A high fat, low carb moderate protein diet (aka ketogenic or keto diet) has become so popular in the past few years as a great weight loss diet. There are so many misconceptions about this diet that can be very harmful to your health, and I was so excited to find Leanne on her website The Healthful Pursuit a few years ago when I decided to try it. Her information is so helpful and her recipes incorporate real food and all recipes are dairy free, which can be a big mistake of new keto eaters is relying so heavily on dairy and processed meats. If you are keto or thinking of becoming keto grab this book!
Do you have any favourite cookbooks that you enjoy cooking from? Let me know in the comments what your favorite cookbooks are!
Until next time, stay well and be kind.
